FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT EGG DONATION

In some clinics, due to the shortage of egg donors, you will frequently find a waiting list for treatments involving egg donation. At Amnios In Vitro Project however, due to the specialisation in treatments of this kind, we do not have any waiting lists because we have more than sufficient egg donors.

The donors are young women, between 18 and 35 years old, although we normally do not admit anyone over 30 years old. The donor should have a personal and familiar background that is free of any particular antecedents, a normal psychological assessment and they should undergo a complete gynaecological study and a series of analyses that include tests for hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis and even genetic testing.

This is one of the fundamental selection criteria. In Amnios In Vitro Project we focus specifically on the physical appearance of the donor being as similar as possible to the receiver of the egg cells.

Normally donors are not shared. One donor is used for each patient. In some cases where the donor has an exceptionally high number of egg cells, to avoid creating a problem for the patients receiving an excessive number of frozen embryos, we may reserve some of the egg cells to freeze them.

At Amnios In Vitro Project, we commit ourselves to donating a minimum of six mature egg cells. None withstanding, all egg cells that were generated by a donor will be donated.
